better then emoji movie
the action is get so so , the music is get OK, but if your kids see ever other kid movie this year it will not kill you to seat throw this movie. way better then the emoji movie if you are a pony fan you will love this movie but for me it was got OK.The animation quality of the movie is OK at best would have like it more if it look like the cartoon more. its flaw with is movie is it run-time of 99 minutes would have like it more if it was 89 minutes
It's better the The Emoji Movie, but that's not saying much
I won't beat around the bush, but as a general movie goer, this film is B-A-D. It's beyond unoriginal, it steals from a lot of older and far superior animated films from the Disney renaissance era, in other words, if you have kids, just rent one of those online or watch Zootopia on Netflix, in an The Disney Enlightenment age and the age of movies like How To Train Your Dragon and more, this film is just plain garbage. The only good things I can say are, it's better then The Emoji Movie, and it will please the Bronies and Pagasisters, but that's it. Save your money for Coco.
A fair view.
Warning. This review will contain a few spoilers.

Let's start with the good. This movie is an amazing work of animation and music/sound. The art style is neither better or worse than the parent TV show from witch it originated. They have both their unique styles and they are both done well. The animation on the other hand is a slight improvement and in some cases it's a real pleasure to look at. All the songs sound amazing and even the background music does a very good job of keeping you glued into the world of the movie until the very end. Both the new voices and the familiar ones from the TV show did a great job at giving the characters the personalities that any regular watcher of the TV show got used to. Now let's talk about the story. It is a hero's journey as the voice actress of Tempest said and i just love these stories when they are done well. And this one was almost perfect. There are so many things that the movie has done good and for this reason alone it is definitely worth watching. But sadly there are some misses too from my point of view so let's talk about them.

Here is the bad in my opinion. The magic portrayed in this movie is actually less powerful and also less varied compared to the TV show. In the TV show powerful ponies like Twilight could do a lot more spells like teleport, shoot stronger beams and even morph others or themselves into other creatures without the need to use artifacts like in the movie. In the movie it seems that ponies were severely downgraded both in terms of magic power and known spells and i can't help but scratch my head and ask why? I don't like this change but oh well...i can still hope that a sequel will show up in the future and do it better. The second criticism i have is the villain. How on earth did he get an army if he was so weak? He is actually the weakest villain from the G4 MLP world. I am disappointed in the movie for making him this weak and for missing the opportunity to have a proper climax for the ending of the movie. The TV show had a villain that did it way better. His name was Tirek. I am at least glad that the Storm King received his deserved punishment at the end. If you think that is too harsh then i am sorry. You really don't know how it feels to live under a tyrant. My parents know it and they told me in detail.

Final thoughts. It is not a perfect movie for a brony like me but i think that a regular viewer that never saw the original show might be able to enjoy it even more where i didn't because these criticisms that i have are strictly related to the lore of the MLP universe. I don't think a newcomer would have any problem with how strong are the ponies or the villain for that matter. It is an amazing movie and a visual/musical spectacle that you shouldn't miss. Enjoy.
Give it a chance BEFORE you judge
Based on what promotional material I've seen so far, I'm beyond excited to see this movie.

I know that people have a tendency to judge things before they really understand fully what they're about. People should think about at least giving this movie a chance instead of being quick to bash it as a flop. You don't know that it will flop. I've heard great things about this movie, and that's good enough for me.

This could be a great movie, but because of so much bias against it, it won't receive as much praise as it should. Watch it, THEN be the judge.

There's a saying that not only applies to this movie, but also to the television program this movie is based off of, the phrase is..."Don't judge a book by its cover."
Not bad but not great
Having already seen the abundance of clips and screenshots, not to mention the trailer, I wasn't entirely excited for this movie. Upon actually seeing it, it did surprise me at times like with the argument Twilight and her friends got into as well as the Trojan Horse parody scene. The songs weren't particularly great, though I had listened to those from the soundtrack around the time it was released. The villains weren't particularly interesting though it wasn't really surprising that Tempest is basically reformed by the end of the film given that the show reforms villains all the time and the whole "save a bad guy" motif has already been done before. Wasn't really a fan of the sort-of "haze" over the eyes as they end up looking darker than the rest of the body. The song at the beginning was probably among the worst as it was just a parody of "We Got the Beat" by the Go Gos. Props if you end up enjoying this movie more than I did but I don't think I'd have different thoughts had I not gone beyond seeing the trailers that were released. Kind of a let down given all the hype and merchandise that's already out now.
With Flying Colors
This film such a nice return to 2D animation. I have been a Brony for a while and i was extremely proud of what i saw. I walked out of the theater with my family smiling. This film is just so innocent and adorable.

First is the Animation... The animation style is smooth and an improvement over the TV show. The color pallet itself is bright and beautiful making the film blow up. the 2D cartoon ponies mixed well with the 3D style backgrounds.

Voice acting... The Original caste is joined by Brilliant actors like Emily Blunt, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba, Michael Pena, plus many more. they bring all they have into this and it clearly shows. I want to praise Emily Blunt as Commander Tempest...Her character was the most powerful and Emily Blunt makes her even stronger with brilliant voice acting. Her as the main villain was the perfect choice and for a movie about little ponies, her aura was threatening and dangerous. Everyone else did good but she stood out the most. The original voice cast did their job and made me adore the mane 6 once more.

The story itself was solid and i was with the Mane 6 every step of the way. There are some well animated animated action scenes that keep the ball rolling. There are some very heartfelt scenes that made me surprisingly feel for the characters.

negatives... This move isn't perfect, there are some flaws that even I couldn't look past. For one...Pinkie Pie...her character in the show is over the top, but she she is smart about it and knows when to act more serious. There were moments where i thought she was too much and she took up a lot of the screen time from the others like Fluttershy... Fluttershy was underused and simple choices made within the script could have made her presence more well known....Some of the jokes didn't land all to well, i chuckled because the charm of the film is infectious, not because the jokes were funny...some jokes did land, but don't expect any gut busters.

In the end i loved this movie and i recommend all fans see it whether you're a brony or need to take your daughter to see it.
A super clean film for young children
This film tells the story of a group of equine princesses in a magical land called Equestria, who has to fight against an evil king who wants to take all their powers.

The story of "My little Pony The Movie" is super clean. There is no love story, no violence and the language is child appropriate. As a consequence, there is little for adults to enjoy. There is one line that I laughed out loud, which was "Where there is a city, there's a spa". That is not to say that this film is not enjoyable. In fact, the visuals are super cute and very colourful. The songs are fun too. It will entertain young children very much.
If you like the show, you'll like the movie
You know, this was a really enjoyable movie. I mean, realistic expectations here; I didn't go in expecting another Lion King or even Monsters U :P But if you like the show, you'll probably like the movie.

First, the cons: I noticed a few minor continuity errors, and I felt like the story arc of Twilight & the other main ponies could've been fleshed out slightly more. Also, the Storm King's lines and expressions bore a resemblance to Kuzco from The Emperor's New Groove, which kind of threw me off a bit - I loved that movie, so seeing those spots that looked kind of inspired by it, it just took me out of *this* movie for that split second, you know? He could've also been fleshed out a bit more, cos he's not in the movie that long, and you kind of wonder just what his deal is.

I think the best thing about this movie was the main villainous character, Tempest. The voice acting here was great, and her character was fairly compelling. The songs in the movie were really well- written, with the ones performed by Sia and Tempest especially standing out. The major side characters introduced were pretty cool, too, and the general plot of the story was good.

Overall, I think this movie is worth checking out. Again, realistic expectations here; it's enjoyable but not amazing :P But I know I definitely enjoyed it & would be happy to see it a second time :)
Good, but not great
A few of the musical numbers could have been better, they felt rushed, and unrefined. The villains weren't as scary/menacing as others in the actual show. There was no emotional draw to this one.. A well written episode like "a perfect pear" will kick you in the feels. this didn't have it. This feature had potential, but fell short of being truly great. Better luck next time, guys. Thanks for the effort.
The best movie of 2017
This is by far one of my most favorite animated movie of 2017

*spoilers ahead*

The animation is very beautiful and fluid. Even the ponies look adorable in ToonBoom. I love how the animators did with the program.

The setting too is creative. It consists of land, air and water. One of my favorite scene of this movie is the Seaponies and some musical parts of this movie.

Daniel Ingram is an amazing song writer. His music piece "One Small Thing" and "Open Up Your Eyes" are very catchy and fun, it made me did a little dance in the movie.

Overall, this is my most favorite animated movie of 2017.
