Disappointing addition to a previously very good series
This is the fourth in the feature-length direct-to-DVD Tinkerbell series.

The previous three videos were entertaining and fairly original.

This most recent addition is uninspired, unoriginal, and overly simplistic. It lacks the relative depth and richness of its predecessors, and the soundtrack is little more than a lightweight disfigurement of those in the previous videos.

A child certainly might like this movie, but it is nevertheless inferior in virtually every way.

If you haven't seen the previous three movies, I'd recommend getting one or all of those.

If you have seen the previous three movies, I think you'll find that this one adds nothing of value to the experience.

Find Magic Agan in the World of Fairies
I loved this movie. I don't have kids, but I love so many movies for kids because many of them are safe for viewing and they hold a magic absent from adult movies. I didn't find this one to have those ever increasing double entendre jokes that are meant to entertain adults with their children. I also like that there wasn't a villain, unless you would consider the quickly approaching freeze line a villain.

I didn't find the dialogue cheesy like others have mentioned. I found the animation to be spectacular, the story simple and pleasing (who needs complicated stories anyway? We have enough of those in our own world.), and the characters vibrant. I did have two points of contention. First, the first Tinker Bell movie depicts winter fairies when Tinker Bell is born and then chooses her talent. One of them puts a snowflake in the talent circle. They seem to be fine and aren't in danger of their wings wilting. The minister of winter flies with other warm fairies outside of the winter woods and seems fine, too. As a reviewer elsewhere stated, how do they fly to the mainland to bring winter if they can't get warm? Second, there is a character who is a comic relief that seems like he was fashioned after pothead/stoner characters, which I don't like. At one point he is meditating yogi style to bring back the pixie dust. I would rather see a praying character, as they are rare, but as Disney doesn't eliminate them entirely from other movies, I'll hold my peace on this one.

Overall, though, I really liked this movie. I can overlook my points of contention because there is enough to redeem the film.

Favorite Tinker Bell movie... Beautiful!
Our family enjoys the Tinker Bell series - I think they are the most beautifully animated movies ever - visually stunning! The plots typically do not grab me that much, but I'll watch them with my girls for the visual "eye candy" of the scenery and setting - the sparkles, the nature, the beautiful animation.

Secret of the Wings may have been the prettiest one yet!

The story held many surprises for us (we had not watched trailers or read about it, so we went in blind other than having watched the previous 3). The story was funny, warm, adventurous and my personal favorite in the collection. Meeting Tinker Bell's sister, Periwinkle, and watching them bond was fantastic. The Keeper was a very lovable "grandpa" sort of character that added to the show and we enjoyed the back story for Queen Clarion.

It is extremely unusual that we enjoy any sequel (x4) as much as the first, but this one surpassed the first by a mile!!! Beautiful!

To be clear - when I rate a child's movie, I am comparing it to other animated movies / rated G - not ALL movies of ALL time. Thus, my score may seem too high to some if they think I'm comparing it to Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, and the like. I am comparing it more to other animated features for children.

"Secret of the Wings" takes Tinker Bell into the depths of the Winter world just in time for Christmas
Disney continues its "Fairies" franchise with the latest entry in the series, "Secret of the Wings." This marks the fourth movie and there doesn't look to be an end in sight with next year's addition already scheduled. Timing couldn't be better to release the newest sequel since it takes place in the land of Winter and would make the perfect gift for Christmas for any little girl.

A curious Tinker Bell ignores the rules of warm fairies and ventures into the forbidden world of winter. Her dangerous excursion leads her to uncover a mysterious secret and almost break a wing . A bizarre glow overcomes her wings during the quick visit, which drives Tinker Bell to return and delve deeper into the winter woods in search of the Keeper of all fairy knowledge.

"Secret of the Wings" looks fabulous. Its CG animation is clean and picture perfect. A greater amount of visual depth can be felt when watching the 3D version of the film. However, the 2D version is stunning as well. The color schemes are beautiful no matter if the screen is filled with striking whites or darker tones.

Kids will love it......
This movie is not as good as other tinker bell movies. But still i love this movie. Specially the climax, where it shows the original bonding of two sisters. The kiss shared between queen and lord milori was a nice shot. The whole new side of the fairy land. All new peoples. All new fun and all new works, makes this movie very special.

Children in my home are big fan of tinker bell.

Animation is really good. I conclude a message from the movie is ,love cannot be kept apart, whether it is the love of sisters. Tinker bell has a sister Periwinkle....wow...

I have seen the tinker bell series and i love the first part very much.

This movie deserves a watch and 9 stars.

Charming fun for young 'uns
It does annoy me when films are judged under a complete misunderstanding of for whom they are intended. I can only imagine that the relatively low rating for this film on this site is due in most part due to viewers seeing this and forgetting it's aimed at 3 to 7 year old girls. I bet most of the voters aren't 3 to 7 year old girls.

I can only endorse the comments of the other posters so far who have all enjoyed it and whose children have enjoyed it. I took my 5 year old today and she loved it. We had only seen the previous Tinkerbells on DVD so I was a tad surprised to see this turn up in the cinema (but not in 3D - glory be!) but I thought it was a decent enough effort which pushed all the right buttons, in the right order, and didn't outstay its welcome. They say that when you notice the backgrounds in a film the plot has lost you, but in this case I don't think that's true; I found the contrasting depictions of the winter/summer fairy lands quite spectacular, adding to the film. Not to mention the animals' furs and feathers...! Good work.

Obviously as an Englishman and childhood fan of Peter Pan I baulk somewhat at the Disney version of Tinkerbell, but as a father of 5 year old Fairy-obsessive, it is what it is. And it does what it sets out to do - quite well, I think.

Mild spoiler: My daughter got upset when the sisters were told they could never see each other again; nevertheless there is no antagonism, peril or violence to put off younger children.

DVD is certainly its natural home, but of its type (and I don't mean anything bad by that) this is pretty good and I think young children would enjoy it very much. Some grown-ups might, too.

Must see for young people movie
This is the first movie we watched with my daughter of 3.5 years of age, yesterday 3-11. Although it was a bit hard for her to watch the movie in 3D as or many times she removed from her eyes she liked both the idea of 3D and also this movie. And or myself it was the second 3D movie after watching Avatar This movie as other will post , is about the friendship and the brotherhood. And how the barriers are dissolved with love. As about the movie , i find it as a move to older nicer periods with stories of real value and with value. With the enhancement of the technology via 3D it could be very nice if they can adapt older favorite stories in in 3D

She's "tinkering" around again!!!
Secret Of The Wings continues the story of the Tinkerbell series, with voice overs provided by Lucy Lui and Timothy Dalton. The story concentrates strongly on Tinkerbell's curiosity of what is on the other side of Never Never Land, which is where the warm fairies are forbidden to go. Sure makes sense, because it's pretty frosty on the other side, it's a wonder why Tinkerbell even wants to go there. She steps on the other side just for a few seconds, and her wings begin to sparkle. She wants to know why, and her quest takes her on a journey to the other side, where she is forbidden to go. (Can't tell this fairy no, but you can sure try!). Answers are quickly answered, and she discovers much more then she imagined possible. The computer animation dazzles you with some great effects and powerful imagery, where the other three Tinkerbell movies failed. Although the story line suffers a bit, it's quite a trade off to see something of Tinkerbell that you've never seen before. Great family movie and fun for all.

Tinkering Tales
Innocent and endearing Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman) returns with another tale from the magical realms of faeries. Summer fairies and winter fairies don't mix, as nature has planned each of their roles with forethought. The wings of one will freeze in the cold, while the others whittle away in the heat. Thus both lands are separated with fairies in both quarters bringing harmony across the divide. Nonetheless Tinker Bell was never one to avoid adventure and enchanted by the snowy bliss of winter decides to cross to the forbidden other side, where see encounters her white-haired twin Perriwinkle (Lucy Hale). These events counter the rules of both faerie clans, placing them in conflict with Lord Milori (Timothy Dalton) of the Winter Faeries and Queen Clarion (Anjelica Huston) of the Summer Faeries.

Full of sparkle and some charming characters, Tinker Bell's adventures in Never Never Land are just what they must be: an engrossing experience of wonder for youthful eyes, devoid of unnecessary brutality or subtextual messages for adults (well... not entirely... but almost). Thus a movie focused directly towards its target audience, but with enough sweet allure to at least keep parents in focus. Nonetheless Disney fails to avoid worrying trends to 'barbiefy' the faeries into slender voluptuous dolls. Never a Disney classic, but solidly entertaining with some dazzling Indian made animation (apparently a stark improvement on previous Tinker Bell movies) and enchanting enough to satisfy youth, while not dissuading adults.
