Storyline: A group of friends stop to pick up a hitchhiking woman only to end up getting drugged by her with a gas. They awaken to find that vials have been implanted in the base of their skulls - which are of course instantly fatal if they are removed, a grinning professional looking woman informs them on TV screens that they have 22hrs to fill these vials with a specific amount of brain fluid, a fluid that is produced during times of extreme pain. Along with another group of unlucky test subjects and with time ticking away they decide to work together and share the burden of reaching their painful target.

this makes ''American psycho 2'' seem like a very very good movie
one of the worst movies that I have ever seen, The acting was horrible, the sound in the movies was sh*t I couldn't understand half of it and the plot line was less than garbage.... The torture scenes weren't that bad only most of the time very ridiculous, I don't think anyone ever would get scared from this movie (maybe 8 year old). There are no actual scary parts only a few ''gross'' parts and those ''gross'' parts aren't even that gross. The acting sometimes was very funny I have to give credit for that, especially one of the blond chicks (don't know who is who) her acting was certainly the worst. the Asian girl, she screams really funny. The kinda hippie guy who is just a total *beep* character And the Token Black guy who almost acted like Mac from It's always sunny, in the episode where he plays Roger Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon "
Torture Porn Lite
A group of friends stop to pick up a hitchhiking woman only to end up getting drugged by her with a gas. They awaken to find that vials have been implanted in the base of their skulls - which are, of course, instantly fatal if they are removed.

A film where people are forced to torture each other? With the dubious reason that brain chemicals are being collected? While there is some cleverness to this latter part, the former boils down to yet another title in the never-ending "torture porn" subgenre of horror. And no one wants that. Of course, viewers should not be surprised when the cover is a pliers holding a tooth.

If there is one redeeming thing about this film, it is the inclusion of Maynard James Keenan as Special Agent Ford. But, to be fair, the torture aspects are stronger in the first half and there is some attempt to bring out the humanity in these folks. Does that make this is a good movie? No. But it could be a lot worse.
So I almost turned it off when the girls decided to break a plate and cut a finger to write numbers in blood of whom would go 1st, 2nd...etc. Really? No better way to decide turns? Draw straws perhaps? In the very same scene there was a dish strainer whose plastic construction almost resembled straws and the group obviously had tools to cut things. It's almost as if that was put in the scene to say, "see how purposely stupid this movie is?" That being said, I continued to watch if for no other reason than to see how it turned out. I can't say I was 100% dissatisfied with it, hence the "2" rating, however, I also can't say I wouldn't pull out a fingernail if forced to watch it again! :-)
Lives up to its name and then some
At least the opening scene should have a subtitle "inspired by Dexter the TV series". While the basis for the plot is new and interesting and also has the Human Centipede/Saw gore feel to it, the actual setup to the point where the horror/gore begins is horrifyingly weak.

The actors help make the film bearable, and Maya Hazen is awesome. While the characters may seem stupid beyond belief or unrealistically smart in some cases, after watching a film like Compliance that's based on real life idiots, it's best to simply take it all in. They usually tie into the overall story and are better than screaming stupid naked teens running off in all directions from bigfoot, big fang, etc. In short, the stupidity typically fits into the situation and is part of building the suspense/agitation.

There's apparently a new category developing for films that annoy along side horror, tragedy, sex, and comedy. This is a combination of annoyance and standard gore. That may not be a good idea for an entire film.

This also works as a story in what not to do. It does give you points of satisfaction to offset the gore, plot development stupidity, and other annoyances as if those are all pains to achieve the gain. It's horribly disappointing that opportunities for titty twisters were missed. The writer and director are in desperate need of a sense of humor.

FYI, my rating may be a little harsh and I'm tempted to up it to a 5, but don't bet your collar bone on it.
An Honest Review
I watched this movie without first consulting IMDb (as I usually do) and had a completely open mind. I must say, I'm quite shocked at all of the negative reviews and ratings on here. What I watched was a well-crafted, intriguing, and genuinely entertaining indie "horror" flick. The actors kept my attention without straying into too much cheesiness, which is not unexpected for an independent feature, and carried the film diligently on their shoulders. The gore usage was not as liberal as you would think, and was used tastefully to further the story. And furthermore, I was never bored at any time during the film. It stayed interesting until the very last minute. So, give this movie a chance. If you like this particular niche of the art of film, I believe you'll enjoy it.

Disappointing, dull and almost unwatchable
Finding themselves trapped in a strange house, a group of people learn they are to be used for a process of experimental drug extraction which requires them to torture each other to produce the necessary chemicals.

This one turned out to be quite the decent and barely tolerable Torture Film effort that manages to get some decent parts to this. One of the best features here is the actual location of this which is quite appropriately the dirty, dingy and well-used location that really makes for an uneasy situation that needs to be dealt with accordingly. It really looks like the kind of place that breeds torture and mutilation which is what's accomplished here in some rather brutal sequences. The initial dismemberment of the one trapped victim and what eventually happens to him is all pretty gruesome and bloody while it's mainly the collective result of all the other scenes here, from the sliced off fingers and stabbing to being burnt with irons and waffle-makers as well as the relentless beating and pounding on the body that occurs to everyone in here which does make for one rather intense and brutal effort. Where this one really falls apart, though, is in the underlying premise of the film of how it has captured and forced upon them their predicament, as the necessary chemicals to be retrieved are rather-rightly pointed out being no good from a dead person so the group's decision to stay alive and deal out the torment willingly to each of them means that there's never a danger of killing them or brutalizing them way more than necessary so all it does is simply march on to the inevitable completion of their mission which ensures their release. There's no tension or suspense brought about by this, all it does is simply feature them beating on each other to a safety point at which it stops so there's no suspense to be gained from the whole experience since no one's going to die from these encounters and everyone is all on-board with that so the tortures aren't brutal or graphic or gory at all which leaves this severely lacking in that area. Likewise, the constant negotiations and pleads for recounts makes this one take up quite a bit of time in the beginning to get going, and the pace of this is painfully slow throughout the tortures anyway so it doesn't really gain anything from these anyway despite the tired and seemingly-afterthought inclusion of the pregnancy angle that would've rendered everything moot anyway. All in all, this is a pretty troubling entry.

Rated R: Extreme Graphic Violence and Extreme Graphic Language.
Pain to Make the Pain Killer
Some randomly selected people wake up to find themselves in a house with contraptions stuck to the back of their heads. Now, I know what you're thinking: "This is another Saw or Saw-like movie in which they are all part of some elaborate death trap and they have to figure it out or die." No, that's not what this movie is. They were all there to provide a critical component from their brains to create the hottest drug on the market. Except, the only way to get this particular fluid from the brain was through pain. They all had a quota and 24 hours to meet that quota... so let the torture begin.

This is one incredible movie. I was thinking about this movie long after it was over. This movie made me wince several times as the characters tortured each other in various imaginative ways in order to produce that coveted brain juice. Unfortunately for them their choices were very limited: suffer through pain or die. This was a cool, thrilling under-the-radar horror film.
Not bad at all
As a rare reviewer on IMDb I only decided to comment on this after reading the rather negative posts from others. It ain't half bad - yes there are Saw/Hostel comparisons and it fits rather aptly into the "torture-porn" genre. It seems as though the production staff are fairly new to the game and I don't think they deserve the kind of criticism handed to them by the other (two, at the time of writing) reviews seen here.

Without giving anything away, it's a solid, tense first hour with questionable (but believable, considering the circumstances, and assuming you have an open mind) character development that would have benefited from a less ambitious attempt at a dramatic conclusion and something that's worth a watch for fans of the genre.
Better than similar torture horror
This film may not have the greatest of plots but for all horror gore fans it has its nice little moments, the characters are well acted and believable. I didn't expect much from this film, but would personally rate it higher than other similar films such as hostel.

If you are looking for a nice bit of gore and torture you can't go wrong with this film. and at least it's not a group of teenage kids getting bumped off one by one and shot on a camcorder like most horror coming out of America at the moment!

Here's hoping more of you out there will watch this neat little horror and they will get round to making vile 2.
As much as I love Saw (and was curious about the evolving story in its sequels), I almost kind of despise it for what it kick-started. One of the (many) movies that seem to take the formula out of context is on display here. I watched it at Frightfest in 2011, which should be a good place to watch any horror movie ... if it is worth it. This one unfortunately isn't really worth the money.

You get a bunch of people locked in a house. They wake up not remembering anything, but a video tells them, they have to hurt themselves to get free. As a reviewer (who was harsher then me) on Dreadcentral pointed out, there are options that don't even get discussed. But it's not the dialogues that try to be the strong point here. It's the torture scenes. While you could see some human behavior issues on display here, too much is left out to make it really count as psychological thriller. The actors seem to have too little to work with, but even that gets squashed away (no pun intended) ... I can't really recommend this at all
