What's the point of living if you can't feel alive
At it's core We Go On is a movie about Living Life. There's a quote from The World is Not Enough that has always stayed with me. "What's the point of living, if you can't feel alive" This is the problem that Miles faces every day . Due to a childhood trauma, he's terrified of everything, especially dying and not knowing what awaits you. Fortunately/Unfortunately (depending on your stance), he gets more than he bargains for, when he finds his answer. The premise drew me in, the acting kept me watching. We Go On is not a hardcore horror movie. It has a couple solid scares, and a pacing that gives you time, to enjoy the performances of Annette O'Toole (SMALLVILLE) and the very likable lead Clark Freeman who plays Miles (although everyone in this small budget movie, do great jobs). If you like your horror bloody, gory and twisted, skip this one. Like I said, the performances, intriguing plot and quick pace (1hr 30mins) is what kept me watching and I Iook forward to seeing what Writers Jesse Holland and Director Andy Mitton comes with next.
Solid low budget but not outstanding
From looking at other reviewers it seems they have over rated this movie. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad movie, it's just not as good as they say.The acting is solid but plot lines seem rushed in order to progress the story resulting in unrealistic actions taking place. Scenes involving the interaction between Miles and his mother seem at odds with the story playing out making his mother's actions seem illogical and extreme. Other reviewers that have scored this movie down have highlighted these areas. I believe the movie could have made more with the material at hand and created more tension with little to no extra budget but it built up the story to the 45 minute mark and then it started to unwind somewhat I feel instead of ramping it up. The end was anti climatic and just left me feeling that the movie could have had a lot more potential which is a shame.
loved every minute.Another surprisingly good one
I must admit I mostly wanted to watch it cause the title already got me..Don't know why.. I love anything that has to do with paranormal(but if you think of Paranormal Activity an such shitty movies you are wrong)even if this isn't really a movie about the paranormal but a bit of fiction and drama for me. I honestly loved every minute of it.The actors played their roles well and I really loved Miles and how he played the anxieties-as I suffer from many on my own I have to say he got that very believable. So if you too hate all those mainstream movies and love secret gems once in a while, love to feel with the main figure in the movies and good suspense you really should give it a watch.
First door on the left.
Miles (Clark Freeman) doesn't like planes, trains, and automobiles. He has a fear of dying. He places an add in the papers for $30,000 for anyone who can prove any kind of afterlife or ghost. Sort of like the James Randi $1,000,000 paranormal challenge, but less. He weeds out the hoaxers and visits people who he think can prove it. His mother (Annette O'Toole) tags along like a third wheel on a date. Finally he accepts an odd call left on his voice mail. He didn't give out his number.

The film didn't have a lot of glitzy special effects. It relied on a decent tale with good characters and passable dialogue. There were light elements in the tale so as not to make it dry. It also provided me with proof positive that after I die, my cats are going to eat me. I like the film in that is was somewhat unique and didn't have a formula to follow.

Guide: No sex or nudity. Don't recall any swearing.
Yes, better go on... with another movie.
Boring and not so original.

As for their previous work from the same directors (Yellowbrick road) this movie has a nice concept and tries to be innovative the first 5 minutes but unfortunately he just falls in a derivative horror genre with a boring story and a lot of lazy screenplay (one example: the "accidental" meeting with his old friends that work in the FX).

Easy to miss Gem
I would highly recommend this movie as I found it one of the most enjoyable horror movies I have seen this year.

It's also an easy to miss movie. There's nothing in the trailer, the title or the synopses that leads you to believe that this is a brilliant movie.

These days twists are easier and easier to spot. I don't know whether it's because we are becoming attuned to the tell tail signs or because people are just not trying that hard. The twist is this movie, although small I did not see coming at all.

The movie works itself through haphazardly from one scenario to the next giving you the feel that it's more anarchy than a planned plot. But after everything has played out to fruition I feel a very well planned plot may hide itself in what seems like anarchy because life is anarchy and if we feel like we are watching a set out plot line it would feel less real.

Great quotes, the mum is a great character.

The plot is subtle, the scenes are light. It does not aim to hit you with a bat of gore, violence and special effects "WHAM!"

It creeps up on you and at the end you realize you've just watched a brilliant movie.
What a surprising supernatural flick this was. Recommended!
"Once you see what I'm gonna show you, you're kind of gonna be in the inner circle on this thing, and…well… you'll be open to it. To them."

Everyone knows the famous phrase "I see dead people" from the unparalleled movie "The Sixth Sense". Of course, you can't compare "We go on" with the latter. But in a way, it reminds you of it. Not that this one is terrifying and filled with heart attack causing jump-scares. So for those who think a horror movie is about demonic appearances, a multitude of bloodthirsty zombies or a psychopathic freak who slaughters innocent girls, be warned. This isn't such a typical horror movie. To be honest, I thought the human interactions between Charlotte (Annette O'Toole) and Miles (Clark Freeman) were the most amusing in this film. And the story itself can be called original as well.

Miles is someone who suffers from all sort of phobias. And this because of his father's deadly car accident when he was very young. Thus he fears to drive a car, he fears open spaces, he's afraid of heights and he hates rotting things. Obviously he's also afraid of dying. Should I list all the Latin names for these phobias, there's a chance that some readers would grow a phobia to read my reviews. In other words, Miles is a real scared guy. The cure he comes up with, is on the one hand fairly inventive and on the other hand also kind of naive. If someone can prove to him there's life after death by showing him a ghost or a spirit, Miles thinks he might be able to lead a normal life.

A page-sized advertisement in the newspaper is used to draw the necessary attention. I'm sure the $ 30,000 reward is the reason why a lot of individuals offered their help. Of course there are charlatans, scammers and quacks among them. And that's where Miles's mother Charlotte, comes into the picture and starts helping her son with the difficult quest to find credible candidates. Even though she is convinced it's all nonsense. Eventually there remain three candidates. The question is whether these people can help Miles. You need to watch the movie to find out yourself though. It's only halfway the movie it gets interesting and the atmosphere becomes more sinister. And this after meeting Nelson (Jay Dunn), a seemingly dead normal guy who works as a maintenance man at the airport. He will help Miles to get in touch with the thing Miles wishes to see.

As I said before, "We go on" isn't really creepy or frightening. But after meeting with Nelson, the film takes a whole different turn and turns into a pretty ghostly film. But generally, one tries to put more emphasis on the humorous side instead of making it creepy. Normally, I'm not I'm not so keen on humorous horrors. Usually it feels rather exaggerated with use of infantile humor and lot of mostly weak parodies of classic horrors. As in the "Scary movie" series. At first it's a bit funny, but after a while it starts to annoy me. In this movie, the humor is more subtle and at the same time ordinary. As if it wasn't meant to be funny. As if it just slipped in the movie by accident. I admit it. That's the kind of humor I appreciate the most. No forced knee-slappers where a laughter track is needed to let the audience know that something funny has happened.

The interaction between the two main characters is a pleasure to look at. Especially Annette O'Toole is fantastic. Both act in a spontaneous and natural way. At times it seemed as if they had a lifelike mother-son relationship. Grandiose, extremely funny and touching at the same time. For that reason they already earn a standing ovation. But the film itself deserves all praise as well. In a quirky way, the film succeeds in distinguishing itself from other ghost stories. Let me call "We go on" a horror for newbies. A fascinating supernatural story without bloody scenes and palpitations-causing scares. I am convinced that the non-lovers of horror will also enjoy this. I was pleasantly surprised by this low-budget flick.

Was i Watching the same film as other reviewers?
Very low budget and extremely disappointing film that offers the premise of a good story but gives you precious little.Looks like it was shot on video. A complete waste of the talents of Annette O'Toole and especially John Glover.I wonder if i watched the same film that other reviewers praise here, because i can't see it. This is a poor film, not scary, not moving, not much of anything.
Just when you think you know what's going to happen, it twists a little...
Which was precisely what I enjoyed about this film. And the fact that it was a very original story which really resonated with me, having been a paranormal investigator for years and having my own personal experiences. Its not the in-your-face, jump-at-every-turn kind of movie so if that's what your looking for, keep moving. This is a well thought out movie that doesn't need to rely on that kind of stuff.

Afraid of death?? I believe most people are, hence life saving drugs, cures for diseases, search for the paranormal and life after death experiences, etc, etc. The protagonist, Miles Grissom, played brilliantly by Clark Freeman, has many fears but death is the main one. So he offers a reward to anyone who can prove we go on after death. And the fun begins. Annette O'Toole was good as the over-protective mom, who, as we find out, has her own bombshell that drops later in the film. And I enjoyed Jay Dunn as his "side-kick". I frigging LOVED the end!

As I stated, I worked as a paranormal investigator until about 5 years ago because I, too, was seeking answers. I have never been afraid of death, I mean, we ALL will die. Its inevitable (can you tell I'm a realist?). I just was honestly curious about life after death and I had a friend in the business. I felt I had to experience it for myself and joined their team. There is A TON of fake crap and shenanigans out there from BOTH sides you just wouldn't believe it. And quite a few misconceptions as well, thanks to TV, movies and the BS on YouTube. But I had to end it. I don't want to give away any spoilers to the movie so I'll just say that my experience was pretty close to Miles's albeit on a different level. And finally stopped after the death of my father, who ended up helping me when I asked, 4 months after his death. Needless to say, I have my answers. Boy, do I miss my dad.
